Witch Watch

Nico Wakatsuki has finished her six years of witch training and is moving back to town by herself. As a new witch, she must choose a familiar to accompany her. However, unlike the other witches, she wishes to pick a non-animal familiar. There's no better companion than Morihito "Moi" Otogi—her childhood friend who happens to be an ogre. Morihito is vehemently opposed to being her servant, but he reluctantly accepts his fate after learning that a curse would revert him into a strange cow-tiger hybrid were he to disobey a witch's order.

Due to Morihito's father leaving for a business trip and Nico's mother remaining behind in the Witches' Holy Land, the two teens find themselves living together under the same roof. While Nico is ecstatic to be living with her crush, Morihito finds that her magical antics and overall clumsiness create more problems than solutions. With a prophesied disaster to befall Nico within the year, Morihito must do everything he can to protect her as her bodyguard while also upholding his duties as her familiar.

Preliminary (6/26 eps)

This review was written when i was sad about the quality, but it's back to normal, YAY, so i'm gonna let my previous review here, just for the record, and my updated review will go next! none of these reviews are good tbh, so if you decide to read them, do it for fun! i might add more reviews as i progress through the anime, because, at this point, why not!

Why did the quality go to sh*t after the 5th episode? I was REALLY loving this...
Good intro, good plot, GREAT ANIMATION, then boom, it literally went to sh*t, its so bad idk if i can ... overlook it.

My favourite part was the animation, it was so beautiful, (the story too but oh well), it was nice to see this type of anime with such quality.

Moi-chan is supper cute, but is completely different on the 6th episode... I hope they fix this otherwise my rating (9) will change to a 6... I hope the villan or whatever is the one changing the animation and it's all part of the plot.

This new review will be super short (because i can lol)

I like the fact that most episodes are "filler" episodes, I can really start forming a bond with the characters, and now that i'm older, this is one of the few animes that don't make me cringe AT ALL, witch (hehe, did you see what i did there, anyway) is REALLY a good sign. I like the characters, even the "obnoxious" ones, they don't get on my nerves, so you know this is a really well done story.

Anyway that's it, cuz i'm on episode 8 for now, and i feel like i already said the most important factors on my "bad" review :P

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (6/26 eps)

This anime was honestly a difficult one for me to write a review on.
On one hand the animation, art style, OST, and (Some) of the humor were all pretty decent. However the further the anime went on I found myself laughing less and skimming some of the scenes that I felt the pacing was dragging on for.
I have a similar take away to what some of the reviews in the 'Not Recommended' reviews have been saying witch is I honestly think there are better anime/ better ways to spend your time then watch this show as the story and pacing, episode to episode ... fell flat for me.
Art/ animation: 8/10.
Story/ pacing: 4/10
world and setting: 6/10
Yoasobi: 10/10

Preliminary (7/26 eps)

If i can be quite frank and honest, this show was just quite unfunny and boring. Maybe the humor just wasn't for me but I found myself kind of forcing myself to watch it. I didn't like it too much but I feel overall it's more than just the comedy that brought it down for me (though that was a big portion of it).

The overall animation of the show is quite good, which I wasn't expecting but was a pleasant surprise. The only episode I felt was wonky was I think 5 or 6 (don't ). Though that was due to a different ... key animator I think. Anyways, animation was good so that was a plus.

Story wise, I got the gist of what it's supposed to be but found it to be quite dragging and boring. I understand it can and probably will go on for a while before the main "plot" really takes any hold but I just couldn't see myself sitting through the show to get to that point. I don't see any merit nor satisfaction for me so I quit :/

Characters were okay i'd say. I didn't feel too strongly either way about them and they were just kinda there i guess. Maybe it's too early for more development but I'd like it a little more if their growth as characters was more visible early on. (But again, this series seems it's designed to go on for long so I see why it wouldn't happen early).

Overall, I didn't care for this series as It doesn't seem compelling for me to watch, and the humor was very dry and bland. Oh well, can't help it :/
